E.ON Gas Storage UK has begun full commercial operations at the Holford Gas Storage facility in Cheshire. Three caverns, which represent the first phase of the development, are now fully available with a capacity of 60 million cubic metres. When all eight caverns are commercially available, Holford will have capacity of up to 160 million cubic metres.

It has a current capacity of around 4 million therms with 9 remaining cavities due to enter service progressively over the period to 2016.
