Annual AGM Luncheon/ Gas Industry Awards Lunch

In time, the AGM became associated with an Annual Luncheon, which was limited to member companies. However, in 1979 members were allowed to bring guests for the first time and not surprisingly the major source for guests became British Gas business contacts.

In the last few years the Society has organised a joint event with the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers, where the two organisations present the Annual Gas Industry Awards.

Gas Industry Dinner Dance

The gas industry has a long tradition of social events. The major gas undertakings, including British Gas, had substantial sports and social facilities as did some of the SBGI member companies. With the changes in the industry, post privatisation many of these facilities have ceased to exist. However, the Society has established the Gas Industry Dinner Dance as the major social event of the gas industry calendar.
