SECRETARIES, MANAGERS AND DIRECTORS

In its first century, there have been only six “directors” of the Society, with the first two spanning the period 1906-1962. Initially, the role was primarily supportive, but increasingly
the “director” has taken a pro-active role and now operates in a CEO capacity.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to identify photographs of all the incumbents, although they may be present on the limited numbers of historical photographs which are available.
1995-Current John Stiggers, Chief Executive
John Stiggers was appointed Director in 1995. Reflecting the SBGI’s growing scale of activity, his job title was changed to Chief Executive in March 2005.
John has taken a wide range of initiatives since his appointment and has led the affairs of the Society in its most challenging era to date. He is widely known and respected throughout the industry and we look forward to his on-going leadership of the Society’s professional team.
