1900-1905
The gas industry had existed for almost a century when the Society of British Gas Industries was formed at the end of 1905.
1906-1913
The first formal General Meeting (AGM) of the Society was held on 27th February 1906, at which the Provisional Committee was replaced by the General Council and Officers.
1914-1918
The Government declared War with Germany on 4th August 1914, which was to have an enormous impact on the whole country.
1919-1926
At the end of The Great War, hopes were high for a prosperous gas industry within a growing economy.
1927-1939
Almost a decade had elapsed since the Great War before signs of optimism began to return to the SBGI and its member companies.
