Ongoing Objectives
ONGOING OBJECTIVES
a) To represent and promote the interests of the whole UK energy and utility industry.
Requires:
Developing/maintaining an appropriate network of contacts with all major decision-making and influencing organisations relevant to the industry.
Attracting into membership and retaining as members companies of all sizes in all relevant sectors of the UK energy and utility industry.
Developing/maintaining a process for identifying the issues on which the whole membership wishes to be represented and the views they wish to be put forward on their behalf.
b) To represent the interests of members in each of the relevant industry sectors.
Requires:
As for (a) above in respect of each sector.
c) To inform members regarding key developments in the industry as a whole and, in greater detail, on issues specifically affecting the sector(s) in which they operate.
Requires:
Developing/maintaining appropriate sources of information.
Developing/maintaining appropriate means of disseminating information.
d) To provide an appropriate range of support services to members, including assistance for those wishing to access overseas markets.
Requires:
Developing/maintaining appropriate arrangements for members to specify what support they require from the SBGI.
Developing/maintaining an appropriate network of contacts within Government and other organisations able to provide relevant assistance.
e) To maximise for members the benefits of belonging to a trade assocation which represents the whole industry as well as the specific sector(s) in which they operate.
Requires:
Developing/maintaining adequate arrangements for information flows and personal contact between all members and between groups of members with common interests.
All ongoing objectives require the development/maintenance of adequate and appropriate secretariat resources.
